2010 Golden Globe Awards – The Shoes!

One of the things that I love about celebrity awards ceremonies is the fashion. The 2010 Golden Globes happened and there were some pretty amazing dresses that walked the red carpet. But, as usual, my eyes were on the shoes!

And honestly, sometimes I get frustrated with the awards ceremony traditions of long gowns because I’m aching to see what is on the feet of the ladies! So here are a few pics of my favorites – shoes…the ones I could see!

First, we have Kate Hudson. Thank goodness she was holding her dress up! We got to see her amazing sky high white platforms!

Ok, so all the talk of sequins yesterday got me thinking… shoe bling! How fabulous is shoe bling?? Sequins, though one of my favorites, aren’t the only fab adornment on my beloved footwear. My other current obsession… FEATHERS!

UK socialite and celebrity stylist Hannah Sandling has come out of the closet—her shoe closet, that is! With over 700 pairs of shoes in a “secret wardrobe” behind her clothes, Hannah says shoes ARE sexier than men.

From her first pair of heels when she was 13, to a £600 (about $975) Prada pair with diamond-studded heels, Hannah has a relationship with her shoes “that is rooted in loyalty and love.”

I can totally see where she’s coming from with these controversial observations:

In today’s Los Angeles Times, I read this…

On Monday, U2 announced that it would stream Sunday night’s concert on YouTube. The Google-owned video streaming site said that the concert would be archived and available to view after it streams live.

…and my heart skipped a beat.

Seriously. It actually did. Skip. A beat.

U2 rocks my world. I’ve loved them since 6th grade and I saw their show LIVE (right on the rail, baby…10 feet from the stage and the most amazing Adam Clayton) just last month here in my hometown. One word: Awesomeness.

Ever since the show, I haven’t been able to get enough of the 360 Tour bootleg clips on YouTube. It’s like re-living the show all over again. And now, to watch the full show again…in its entirety. Live. On YouTube. Sigh. Heaven.

Details: The concert will be available to watch live on YouTube and is due to start at 8.30pm pacific standard time. If you watch it after the fact, you’ll have to put up with overlayed advertising. So, I don’t know about you, but I’m tuning in live. Late, here on the east coast, but worth it!

I’m gonna “Get On My Boots,” baby. If you haven’t heard Track 6 from their newest CD, No Line on the Horizon, just check this out. Pure poetry.

Uh-oh, trouble in paradise? Mariah admits that she and rapper hubby Nick Cannon argue about closet space. She says his side is much neater than hers.

Each of us has their own areas that we decorated,” Mariah said as she explained what their closet looked like. “The closet is where we have our little battles . . . He has a whole wall full of sneakers, while I have multiple walls of high heel shoes. And yet his sneakers look better than my shoes…I’m like ‘How is this happening?’ I had a stylist come do this and he did it himself. I guess he just knows what he is doing.

The calf muscles might give it away, because this glamorous gal is known for 4- and 5-hour workouts (despite being mom to three kids). In April of 2009, she topped Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s hardest working mothers, followed by actresses Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow. Well, she’s not actually going barefoot…but Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl is wearing a shoe whose curved sole is supposed to imitate the rocking motion of walking around barefoot. Check it out…

Here’s Katherine, stepping out in MBTs (Masai Barefoot Technology),
a shoe touted as as “the anti-shoe.”

According to podiatrists, walking barefoot can be a healthy thing for your feet. In a recent article by Lucy Atkins for The Island Online, actress Scarlett Johansson appeared shoeless to support a shoe charity’s “Barefoot Week” and there’s a rising trend of people actually going barefoot! On city streets!

Ewww.

Even if you decide to keep your shoes on (my two cents: Please Do.), here are some tips that Atkins recommends at the end of her article:

Buy shoes that fit and don’t wear the same ones every day – alternate heel heights.
Avoid heels above about 4cm (1½in) for daily use as this can shorten your Achilles tendon.
Go barefoot at home. It exercises all the foot muscles, can prevent foot strains and keeps the feet strong and flexible.
