Just read a fantastic write-up about Marcia Kilgore, the entrepreneurial powerhouse behind Bliss spas and Soap & Glory bath and body products for women (and now, men, too). In 2007, Kilgore launched FitFlops. FitFlops have sold more than 4.8 million pairs in the last two years. Here’s more about FitFlops:
This thick-soled, jaunty-coloured sandal has changed the footwear landscape forever. It was launched in 2007 after Kilgore was on one of her fact-finding missions. At a cellulite seminar (yes, the beauty industry holds such events), she was musing, “Wouldn’t it be great if there was a shoe that gave your legs a work-out while you walk?”—a real lightbulb moment. The FitFlop—whose patented Microwobbleboard midsole acts like a shock absorber and whose curved sole gently “floats” the foot—has legions of die-hard fans, who swear that their legs are more toned and slender as a result of wearing the shoes.
Turns out that the FitFlops makes more than flip flops. Check out these boots and comfy slip-ons:
Mukluk
Inuk
Snugger
Ultra Lounge
Gogh II
Whether or not the FitFlops line of shoes actually make your legs look more toned and shapely, let’s hear what creator Marcia Kilgore herself has to say:
I can’t say they do anything for cellulite because we haven’t done any testing. But improved blood flow is a good thing, the foot can move properly as it spreads out and down and the body can start recalibrating itself.
Interesting…
I really like the Mukluk made of double-faced breathable Shearling (sheepskin). I might have to try a pair myself and see if the Microwobbleboard [TM] technology works for me.
