Okay, aside from the fact that the movie—which was supposed to start at 12:01 a.m.—didn’t actually start rolling until 12:47 a.m. (which made for a really groggy morning today…can you say COFFEE?!), the movie was:
FANTASTIC!!!!
My girlfriends and I (about 15 in all) met up at a favorite Mexican restaurant near the theatre at about 9:00 p.m. We drank entirely too many margaritas. We ate. Talked. Laughed. Someone brought the new Vanity Fair magazine featuring Rob Pattinson.

At about 11:00 p.m., we closed out our tab and walked over to the theatre. The line was already forming, but we had a good spot. I mean, seriously, as long as your friends are with you WHO CARES how long you’re standing in the sub-zero November night air at almost midnight, right?
So yeah, when there were technical difficulties (I guess the theatre couldn’t figure out how to start a movie simultaneously on 10 screens?), we ate popcorn and drank soda and took increasingly incriminating pictures of ourselves.
The movie: Jacob Black did not disappoint! The wolf-morphing scenes were great. Loved the special effects (this one had a much bigger budget than the last one). The big fight between Edward and the Volturi was amazing.
And if you haven’t heard the soundtrack yet, you should download it today. It’s awesome. Death Cab for Cutie sings “Meet Me On the Equinox”…my fave. But the whole soundtrack has a kinda 80′s vibe to it. Thom Yorke’s “Hearing Damage” channels Depeche Mode, I think. And Muse doesn’t disappoint with “I Belong to You (New Moon Remix)”. Get a listen here.
All in all, a fabulous night! Well worth the wait. Now, back to bed for some much needed catch-up sleep!!
